Everybody always talks about the upside
of the Internet for entrepreneurs.
Recently Perry Marshall and I took the
other side.
Before I explain why let me point out that
it would hard to find two people who've
had a bigger influence on positive
developments in Internet entrepreneurship.
In 1994, I was the first person to clearly
lay out the basic reality that the Internet
was a direct marketing medium.
Anyone who stuck to that vision not only
stayed out of trouble, but did very, very
well.
In 2002, Perry took a good, long look at
the then-new Google AdWords system and declared
it "good." Not only that, he also applied his
electrical engineers brain to figuring out
all the fine points and explaining them
to the world.
(My guess is 99% of all the "how to" Internet
marketing stuff out there today that mentions
AdWords, started with Perry's work as a base.)
So why did Perry and I conclude that the
Internet is a dangerous place for entrepreneurs?
The answer is here...
