In my last e-mail, I shared the ten words
that form the foundation for EVERY successful
info marketing entrepreneur I know...and every
other successful person for that matter.
Today I want to talk about "The Hill."
I have to give credit for this one to Lloyd Irvin.
He's the System grad who went from zero to over
$9 million a year in just four years in a dizzying
array of businesses.
Lloyd's a professional athlete and trainer of
athletes. He's won the world champion title
in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and national titles in
Judo and Sambo.
There's one thing I really like about martial
artists - real ones that is, who compete in
real arenas - they're no BS.
You either win or you lose. There's no
make believe.
People who put their bodies on the line
in martial arts competitions do believe in
one thing however: TRAINING.
They think about it a lot and they do a lot of it
because bad training ends up hurting - a lot.
At a talk he gaveto fellow System grads a while back,
Lloyd talked about "The Hill."
Do you ever feel that building your business is
like rolling a rock up a hill?
There's a good reason for that.
Because it is.
Wait a minute, you're asking, isn't Internet
marketing all about laying in a hammock
and drinking pina coladas by the beach
while your out-sourced minions do all the work?
It is...in your dreams...
Actually in the dreams that certain notorious
BS artists want to sell you.
In reality, success in Internet marketing is
tough.
Not hard, but tough.
Here's the difference.
HARD would mean it takes some kind of superhuman
skill and effort and other massive advantages
to succeed.
Luckily success does not (or we'd ALL be
in trouble.
TOUGH means you've got to personally "bring it on."
No one can do it for you. Not a guru, not a business-in-a-box,
not even a seminar no matter how good.
If you are tough-minded, or can get tough-minded,
then this business pays rich rewards.
OK, I hear you say. I'm game. How do I get "tough minded?"
Let's go back to rolling the rock up the hill.
That's what your business - any business - is.
The tough minded entrepreneur disciplines
him or herself to do something significant to move
the business forward EVERY working day.
Lloyd calls it the "1% Rule."
Every day, you do something that moves you 1%
closer to your goal - and that keeps the rock moving
in the right direction...UP the hill.
Fail to do this and the rock starts rolling back. Bad.
Sounds easy doesn't it?
It is and it isn't.
Most people lack the rigorous, tough-minded
tenacity to set a goal and do something meaningful
to advance it EVERY day without fail.
They get caught up in side issues, they get distracted,
they mentally wander off. They sharpen pencils,
they empty waste paper baskets, they surf the
web and call it "research."
Days, weeks, sometimes months (and God help us all, YEARS)
can go by before we get back and put our shoulders to the
things that really matter.
It's the most common mistake in the world - and it's the real
reason why so few people succeed in Internet marketing
or anything else.
Do you sincerely want to succeed?
You don't have to be a genius. You don't have to have
special advantages.
But you do have to show up everyday and push a little.
Every day. And that takes a truly tough minded person.

that you identify and execute on the 1% that will move
you forward?
