Why is this such a favorite topic of mine and how can
you profit from it?
If you have a product of your own, it takes a lot of
time and effort (and often money as well) to sell that
product on your own.
On the other hand, if you spend that time and effort
instead building a network of affiliates, then you can
literally grow your business exponentially overnight!
Each one of those affiliates can then go off and do
what you would have done to drive traffic to your site.
And, as a result, each one of those affiliates can
multiply your sales many times over.
This is how all the big guys on the 'net make all their
money! They don't focus on making sales themselves.
Their primary focus is on developing their affiliates.
Then, they let their AFFILIATES make the sales.
Sure, you're going to pay out an affiliate commission
for their efforts. But, because you are able to make
SO many more sales as a result, it is still going to
get you a much greater return on your investment than
you would have driving all the traffic yourself.
What is the KEY to building a network of affiliates for
your business?
There are 2 KEYS actually. They are:
* Give your affiliates as many tools as possible, AND
* Finding the RIGHT affiliates and MOTIVATING them to
make sales on an ongoing basis
Most product creators think "affiliate tools" and
immediately assume that it means giving your affiliates
a few emails that they can use to promote your product.
That is so far from what is really needed!
Your affiliates need TONS of tools! Things like:
* text links
* Email Copies
* Signature Ads
* PopUp Ads
* Image Ads
* eZine Ads
* Top Sponsor Ads
* banner ads
* anything else you can think of!
But it's a lot of work creating an "Affiliate Tools" area
on your website. Often, the product creator just doesn't
have the technical skills to pull that off.
Even if he can put together a great tools section, then
comes the job of motivating affiliates to take action.
That one usually does most product creators in.
They try a few emails to affiliates, see no results, no
pick up in sales, and stop, assuming that their efforts
are fruitless.
But there are TONS of things you can do to motivate your
affiliates! Things like:
* Contests
* Traning your affiliates (this is a biggie that works
WELL!)
* Showing your affiliates how much you care about THEIR
success
* Affiliate Reward Programs
* and more!
What I think happens most often is that the product
creators feel like they need to be making sales at the
same time they're working with their affiliates.
So they stop doing anything for affiliates and turn to
the idea of driving traffic themselves. This just
makes the situation worse by showing the affiliates
that you are going to compete with them.
You want to make sure that your affiliates KNOW that
you're in this for THEIR success, not just your own.
