I had a coach once...
...when I played basketball.
His name was John Suminski.
When he played ball, he played against
Lew Alcindor, who later changed his name
to Kareem Abdul-Jabar.
(Kareem won six NBA most valuable player
awards and scored more points than any NBA
player in history.)
Mr. Suminiski - and we never dreamed
of calling him anything but "Mr." -
was tough.
I think I only saw smile once.
But thirty years later I can
still hit 8 out of 10 foul shots
And while I can't move like I used to,
I can still stand under the boards
with anybody, any time and if there's
a loose ball, I'm going to get it.
That was Mr. Suminski's doing.
If we missed foul shots or rebounds,
he'd kick us around the court.
Mr. Suminski was a REAL coach.
Coaching in business is a relatively
new phenomenon...and frankly as I've
seen in practiced in the Internet world,
I've been skeptical of it.
You know the routine...
You buy an eBook or home study
course and next think you know
some slick-talking tele-marketer
is hard selling you into a $5,000
or $10,000 or more "coaching"
program.
The "coach" turns out to be a kid
on minimum wage reading from a loose
leaf notebook.
And yet, in spite of my skepticism,
I've seen some good business coaching
programs.
If REAL coaching makes sense for
sports (which at the end of the day
is just a game), then it *really* makes
sense in business which, let's face it,
is a life and death struggle for
survival.
Does it make sense for YOU to have
a coach? What can a coach do for you
that you can't do for yourself?
How do you find good coaches? How do
you pick a good one?
If you're already a coach, are you
making all the money you could?
If you're a publisher or an info
marketer, did you know that offering
coaching (in an ethical way) could
easily add 20%, 50% 100% or more to your
net income?
I talked about these topics and more
with a man who people are starting
to call "the coach of coaches."
Here's what he had to say...
