This e-mail isn't directly about Internet Marketing,
but it is about three simple things that have made
the w-o-r-k of Internet marketing a little more pleasant
for me.
Yes, w-o-r-k.
In spite of all the guru BS, there's quite a bit of work
involved in Internet marketing and not all of it can be
"out-sourced."
Sometimes we're so busy getting things done, we don't
invest time into thinking about how we can work more
comfortably.
Here are three things that I discovered this year that have
made working on my business a lot more pleasant for me.
Rather than sit on them, I thought I'd share them with you.
=============================================
Ken's Three Tips for More Fun at Work
=============================================
Tip #1 - Stay warm for a lot less
=============================================
This first tip may not apply if you live in one of those
beautiful, balmy parts of the world that never gets cold.
If you do, you can skip to Tip #2.
But if you're like me, you're starting to feel a nip in the air.
It's gotten down to the 40s many days and hit the 30s on
some others and much colder days are coming. In fact,
it's 33 degrees right now. (Near 0 c.)
The other day, the heating oil man arrived and attempted
to put heating oil in my tank.
I say "attempted" because there was only room for .8 gallons.
Not eight gallons, eight tenths of a gallon.
Total charge: $2.80!
What's my secret?
You know those quartz infrared heaters that are being advertised
all over the place? They're made by a company called EdenPURE
and guess what?
They work.
My friend who turned me onto them said he heats his entire
2800 square foot (poorly insulated) house with two of these
heaters for about $300 in electricity. (Your mileage may
vary.)
That's less than what I normally pay to heat my office
for one cold month.
This is not one of those coil heaters. It creates a very
comfortable heat that spreads throughout the room
very evenly. It's much better than forced air or my
old but efficient cast-iron radiators.
I have no idea why this EdenPURE heater works so
well, but it does and there's something very satisfying
about being toasty and warm on a cold day and knowing
it's not costing you and arm and a leg.
=============================================
Tip #2 - Save your back
=============================================
I've broken my back twice, once when I was 28 and once
when I was 35.
How did I do it?
Just lucky I guess.
Anyway, I know what back pain is all about and feel it
to a certain degree every day. Some days, it shuts me
down altogether.
Over the years I've spent thousands of dollars on
various ergonomic chairs.
None of them work.
Then one day I had a brainstorm. I was watching a music video
and I thought about what the drummer was sitting on.
It has to be comfortable because those guys have to sit
for hours at a time, working pretty hard.
I asked a friend about this who's a musician and a back doctor
and he said:
"Good idea, but don't get a drummers stool, get a doctor's stool.
They have better padding, they're on wheels and they rotate.
They also cost a lot less."
(Doctor's are cheaper than musicians I guess.)
I took his advice and got a doctor's rolling stool.
Cost: Less than $100.
Best work chair I've ever had.
Chairs with backs are great if you're sitting back smoking
cigars, but if you're actually working not only don't you need
a back, leaning back can mess your back up.
When you get too tired to sit up straight easily, that's a clear
sign you need a break. Get up and walk around.
Net result for me: a whole lot less back pain.
=============================================
Tip #3 - Listen to your favorite music all the time
=============================================
I love the fact that I can use the Internet to tune into radio
stations all over the world because the radio stations where
I live aren't that good.
I prefer radio stations over CDs and even my iPod because
there's nothing like a great DJ. They can find and put
together music I'd never think of or know about on my own.
I also like hearing knowledgeable DJs *talk* about the
music they're playing.
Of course, I can use my computer to access stations, but
the whole process would be much easier if I had a RADIO that
let me pre-program my favorite radio stations into it.
Well I discovered that such a thing exists.
It's called the Grace Wireless Internet Radio. It looks and acts
exactly like a stand alone radio, but it connects to the Internet
via your wireless network and let's you choose from thousands of
radio stations all over the world.
I've got mine programmed to the five stations I like the best,
two in New York City, one in San Francisco, one in New Orleans
and one in Montreal.
So today as I look out over the turning leaves in the Hudson
Valley of New York (chilly outdoors, warm indoors), I'm listening
to my favorite radio station in New Orleans and getting some
pain-free writing done.
Life is good...

P.S. This Wednesday I'm heading to Chicago for the
System Boot Camp.
This is the first time I've offered a training designed
especially for beginners in a long, long time.
I've got a great faculty to help me out:
* James Martell on SEO and affiliate marketing;
* Howie Jacobson on tracking and testing and
AdWords (check out his book "AdWords for Dummies");
* System grad Kristie McDonald, who's a pro on
online stores and SEO for online stores; and
* Cindy Kappler who is the director of the System
Smart Beginners coaching program.
The seminar is this coming weekend.
Details:

The following weekend I'll be in London with some of the
smartest marketers and Internet wizards on the planet including:
* Drayton Bird, master copywriter and direct marketing
strategist
* Karl Blanks, Internet conversion and monetization wiz
* Ben Hunt, trail blazing Web 2.0 designer
Plus a special guest, a top UK Internet marketing superstar
(who asked me not to mention his name.)
This is the ONLY System Intensive I'm offering this year
and it's definitely the LAST one at this price point.
If I do any more Intensives after this, tuition will
be $5,000.

P.P.S. If you're new to Internet marketing...or you
haven't been able to ramp your business up to the point
that it has created a full time plus living for you...
the smartest thing you can do to get in the game fast is
look into the System Smart Beginners Home Study program.
We took the best of the System Seminar and it adapted
it for beginners and intermediate people and made it
available for a fraction of the price of our live
trainings.
I've been teaching online marketing fifteen years
now and I've got the teaching down to a science.
And the proof is no training has produced more
Internet marketeting success stories than the
System.

P.P.P.S. Skeptical about our claims?
You should be.
The BS in the Internet marketing world is ten miles thick.
That's why I've followed the success of my students to
make sure our training is on the right track.
Here are some grads from our 2002-2003 programs.
You'll recognize some of them who have since
become big hitters.
In fact, three of them - who all started with us as beginners -
are now published authors on the subject of Internet marketing.
One of these days, I'll get around to documenting our latest
batch of success stories from 2004 until now, but until then
here's the tip of the iceberg:
